Chico, CA, Nov. 29, 2018 - The Camp Fire continues to show its might as California’s deadliest wildfire on modern record. As a result, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, also known as Tzu Chi USA, is hosting a campaign called Hope Heals in an effort to bring immediate cash relief to families affected by the Camp Fire.

The goal is our most ambitious yet: to rally the donations of 10,000 people to go toward cash cards for 10,000 Camp Fire impacted families before Christmas. We’ve already made significant progress and will be hosting a press conference on Saturday at 11 AM PST at the site in which Tzu Chi Relief volunteers are already distributing cash cards (Former Sears Store, Chico Mall, 1982 East 20th St, Chico, CA 95928). Paradise Council Members including Michael Zuccolillo will also be in attendance.

The press conference will announce the aim of our Hope Heals disaster relief campaign, but will also call upon Butte county officials, stakeholders, and news organizations to spread the word that registration for free financial aid from Tzu Chi USA is still open at www.tzuchi.us/camp-fire-relief-aid. With up to approximately only 6,000 families registered and having so far distributed debit cards to 1,486 families, we need the community’s help to reach our goal of assisting 10,000 families altogether.

Our debit cards empower families with the choice of how to spend the funds provided them, whether it be for clothing, food, personal care items, construction materials, etc. They are being issued at the following scale: families of up to two may expect to receive an amount of $500, families of up to four may expect to receive $600, and families of five or more, $800.

Together, we can become the light and balm of healing for families currently suffering the  nightmare that now casts a shadow over their lives and faith in the future. Our campaign calls us all to put compassion in action, and what better moment than this, when Californians are in desperate need of caring and loving help.

To reach our goal of gathering 10,000 donors, Tzu Chi USA is currently accepting donations:
