Syrian Refugees Are in Desperate Need of Winter Clothes

More than half of Syria’s population of 22 million citizens is currently displaced due to civil war.

The UN Refugee Agency estimates that over 800,000 Syrians have sought asylum in Europe, and 57% are in Serbia and Germany, with Serbia being a transit country and last stop before entering the EU.

The Government of Serbian, through the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, recently requested assistance from Tzu Chi to cope with the humanitarian crisis unfolding within its borders. Tzu Chi volunteers in Europe ascertained that warm clothes are a critical need at this time, with the worst cold of winter still approaching.

We need your help! Give the gift of warmth to protect children and families struggling to survive, far from home, and in distress not knowing what hardships the next day could bring.

Your donation can benefit Syrian refugees in other ways as well. Given that 2 million Syrians ended up in Turkey, we opened a school for refugee children there. Tzu Chi has also been organizing large-scale distributions of food staples and offering financial aid to impoverished families. And individual assistance is bringing benefits to entire communities.
