About the Charity Art Performance

The art performance will honor Tzu Chi Houston’s Bodhisattva journey, and feature enchanting performances by the world-renowned China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe (CDPPAT), and Tzu Chi volunteers. The program includes the CDPPAT’s “My Dream”, a most extraordinary dance presenting the omnipotent benevolence of the One-Thousand-Hands Bodhisattva, and performances by Tzu Chi volunteers. All the performances combine to convey the importance of universal and boundless love, and to motivate us to collaborate and undertake the Bodhisattva path.

About the Event and its Organizer

Half a century ago, guided by a shared vision of relieving human suffering, thirty housewives in a small town in Taiwan began saving the equivalent of 50 cents a day in coin banks fashioned from bamboo, and established Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation. Over the past 50 years, Tzu Chi’s mission and values have guided its volunteers to the forefront of disaster relief and poverty reduction in more than 94 countries and regions. To strengthen and promote Tzu Chi’s activities worldwide, Tzu Chi Houston invites you to join us for the “Thousands of Helping Hands: Embracing Harmony in Houston” charity performance. We hope to inspire everyone to recognize the potential of selfless giving, and to join together as one family united in a common cause of illuminating our lives and the world with love.

About China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe

Twenty years ago, a group of visually, hearing, or physically impaired children stepped onto a stage and began an incredible creative adventure. Their aim wasn’t to garner sympathy or become a curiosity, but to delight by revealing the unique potential inherent in everyone. The CDPPAT evolved into a professional troupe of performers, whose indomitable spirit and positive attitude to life are an inspiration and testament to how with unwavering will every challenge can be transformed, in this case becoming a work of art. Audiences around the globe are astonished and deeply touched by the troupe’s flawlessly synchronized movements and emotionally engaging gestures. These “messengers of beauty and humanity” have performed at the Paralympic Games, and been referred to as "UNESCO Artist for Peace" by the United Nations.
