Seeing the danger COVID-19 posed to staff at San Jose’s local medical center, ER Dr. Hien Nguyen came up with a simple idea: invent a device that acts as an additional barrier between infectious patients and healthcare workers. What she created is called the HienT particulate barrier, which she hopes will help increase the safety of working conditions for healthcare workers everywhere, for this pandemic and the next.
