Disaster Relief

For Tzu Chi volunteer Samantha Huynh, meeting Sheila Williams of New Bern, North Carolina in the front yard of her home could not prepare her for the destruction she encountered once she stepped inside. According to Huynh, Williams’ house, once habitable, suffered flood damages so severe that “you can hardly tell that the life [sic] they use to have, the life that they already built up” had ever existed there. This story and many others like it are the common themes in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence. For some, pre-existing health concerns and age are just a few of the many challenges faced while recovering from this cataclysmic occurrence. Compassion, a listening ear and knowing that they are not alone are what residents need as support for the long road ahead. In the words of Master Cheng Yen “Life is filled with pain and sufferings, but also with hope and love.” Will you help us bridge the gap?

Please join us and  support our efforts in providing supplies and resources to those in need.
